Sherry Carter Faulkner

Sherry Faulkner passed away August 19, 2023, at the age of 76. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and the Benton Master Gardeners. Sherry also had a distinguished career as a cardiovascular perfusionist at Arkansas Children's Hospital where she was hired to develop and open an ECMO unit. She served as the ECMO coordinator for a decade helping countless children. In 1999 she won the “Perfusionist of the Year” award from the American Society of Cardiovascular Perfusion and authored many scientific articles concerning ECMO in her career. Even though she had many professional achievements, it was helping people that she loved.

Sherry is predeceased by her parents, Harry and Ruth Carter; her aunt, Ida Lou Bradford and her uncle, Jack Duckworth. She is survived by her brother, Harry Michael Carter and two nieces, Sarah Carter and Emily Carter, as well as her aunt, Gloria Duckworth of Heber Springs, AR. Additionally, she has three cousins, Brock Duckworth (Debbie) of Dallas TX, Bruce Morgan (Terry) of Knoxville, TN, and De Ann Crawford (David) of Norcross, GA. Sherry is also survived and will be dearly missed by her adopted family of many years, Patrick and Barbara Young, Greg Young, Jennifer Young, Alex Young, and Ember Magness of Benton, AR as well as her beloved dog Mr. Gibbs.

Sherry was an avid supporter of animals. In lieu of flowers, she would have wanted any donations to go to the Humane Society of Saline County.

Celebration of Life will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Monday, August 28, 2023 at Smith Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market St. Benton, AR.
