Sheri Cowley Allen passed away on October 16, 2023, at her vacation home in Hot Springs, Arkansas after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was surrounded by the love of her husband and soul mate of twenty years, David Allen.
Sheri was born on April 26,1959, the daughter of Leslie Allen Cowley and Kathryn Nichols Cowley. She grew up in Shreveport and south Bossier, and developed her love for nature and outdoors at her beloved family home of Curtis Plantation in Bossier City. Her passion for the outdoors led her to Caddo Gap, Arkansas where she made her home, embraced the community and appreciated the great outdoors in her daily adventures with her devoted husband.
Her years at Southfield School, where she attended kindergarten through highschool, left her with many lifelong friendships and she left her mark on the school through her outstanding athleticism. Several trophies still shine today in the Southfield School trophy case as a result of her leadership and talent on the basketball court. After graduating from Southfield, she attended Louisiana Tech University where she was a member of Tri Delta sorority. Sheri studied psychology and social work, ultimately receiving her masters degree at LSU Shreveport. Sheri was a lifelong member of First Methodist Church in Shreveport, where her family had strong roots.
A well known hunting enthusiast, Sheri was considered a “crack shot” and an avid sportsman who enjoyed fishing, canoeing, and hiking. Her love for the outdoors was a reflection of her love and respect for the land, and for the majestic beauty of God’s works. She let her heart show in everything she did, and was the first person to offer help to someone in need. Always a giver, she will be remembered for her caring heart and her willingness to help others, especially the elderly as she did during her years working at Garden Park Nursing Home.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leslie Allen “Les” Cowley and Kathryn Nichols “Kitty” Cowley; sister, Kathryn “Kathy” Cowley Turner; half-sister, Marcia Ann Cowley; and son, Henry Albert “Chip” Soulie IV.
She is survived by her husband, David W. Allen; son, Hunter Cowley Soulie; grand-daughter, Leilani Marguerite Soulie; sister and brother-in-law, Angel and Carl Bantle; sister and brother-in-law, Colleen and Ricky Rogers; half-brother, Dr. Larry Cowley and numerous nieces and nephews.
