Shelby Ray McKeever, age 94, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2020.
He was born on December 20, 1925, in Galloway, the son of Jessie Wilburn McKeever and Henrietta Ferguson McKeever. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 32 years, Esther McKeever; two sisters, Pauline Coy and Mildred Schmeckenbecker; and one brother, J.B. McKeever.
Shelby was a founding member of Parkview Christian Church in Little Rock. He was also a member of 1st Christian Church in Hot Springs. He graduated from Lonoke High School and was a UCA Bear Alumni where he earned his Bachelor Degree. He was a World War II U.S. Navy Veteran and an avid singer who produced his own music. He retired from the Internal Revenue Service after having a successful 36 year career. Shelby loved to fish Lake Ouachita especially for crappie. He loved his family greatly and will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
He is survived by his son; Mr. James “Jim” McKeever of Hot Springs; two daughters, Ms. Mitzi Johnson of Little Rock and Dr. Carol McKeever Compas of Hot Springs; one grandchild, Macy Johnson of Little Rock; many nieces and nephews and friends that loved him.
Graveside services will be Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 10:00AM in the Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.
