Shelby Joe Jackson, Sr., 76, of Conway passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016. He was born September 16, 1939 in North Little Rock, Arkansas to Basil and Elma Price Jackson. He was a Lock and Dam Operator with the US Army Corps of Engineers for 30 years, an Air Force Vietnam veteran for 7 years and a member of the American Legion, post# 0001 and life member of VFW 2259 in Conway. Shelby loved his grandchildren, fishing and coin collecting.
He is survived by his son, Shelby Joe Jackson Jr. (Andrea) of Altus; grandchildren, Shelby Joe Jackson III and Averi Paige Jackson; his life companion for many years Etta Kirkdoffer; brother, Jackie "Sonny" Jackson (Pearl); and his sisters, Sue Gentry, Barbara Daniels (Tommy) and Patricia Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jane Ann Stanton; and his brothers, Donald Jackson and Billy Jackson.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 5th at Smith - North Little Rock Funeral Home. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 6th at the funeral home. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery.
