Shelby Hackett

Shelby B. "Buddy" Hackett passed into eternal peace on November 25, 2011. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, John Robert and Ella Savelle Hackett of Little Rock, Arkansas. He was also preceded in death by a special friend for over fifty years, Mariann Richards, also of Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born on May 25, 1935.
Survivors include his sister, Savelle Kaiser and her children, Richard Wyckoff, Jimbo Wykcoff, and Jan Godwin. Jean German, sister and her husband, Gene of Dryden New York, and their children Teri Jackson, Amy German, and Nancy Heckel, their respective children.
Martha Munnecke and her husband, Ted of Marthasville, Missouri and their children Merry Ella Iglesias, and Theo Munnecke.
Melvin Hackett, brother and wife Sissy of Perryville, Arkansas, and their children Honey Taylor, Heather Gadberry and John Robert Hackett.
Monica Hackett Lulky, daughter and husband William Lulky of Little Rock, Arkansas. Their children Jessica Leigh Boshears, Maxwell Mayer Lulky, Samuel Frank Lulky, and Miriam Sophia Lulky.
Melissa Hackett Parsons, daughter and husband Cam Parsons, and her children, Jacob DiCenzo Fike, Benjamin Shelby Fike, and Mary Grace Fike of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Jason Nantz Hackett, son, Little Rock, Arkansas. Katherine Hayley Hackett, daughter, Manhattan, New York, and Elizabeth Anne Hackett, daughter, Little Rock, Arkansas.
Buddy attended Little Rock High School, and the University Of Arkansas at Fayettville, where he enjoyed a membership in the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. A career in the Life Insurance Industry spanned over fifty years with major life insurance companies. He was a member of Life Underwriters Association and a Qualifying and Life Member of the Million Dollar Round Table for over 35 years. Buddy was the President of Television, Inc and also Arkansas Cable Television in the early 1970's. These companies started cable services to residents in Arkansas. Cable Television at that time was six dollars per month. Cultivating orchids and gardening were some of Buddy's favorite hobbies. He also loved the outdoors and was an avid duck hunter. He enjoyed fishing, and loved the Razorbacks. He also has a continuing insurance and pension service association, B. Hackett & Associates, a provider of corporate benefit plans to employers across the State.
No Flowers are requested and memorials should be directed to religious organizations, and/or charities of choice. Friends and family will gather for a small memorial service at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct, Little Rock, AR 72205, (501) 224-2200 (NW Corner of I-630 and Barrow Rd.)
