Shayron Gathright

Shayron Gathright, 72, of Lake Kiowa, TX, formerly of Arkadelphia, AR, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2019.  Shayron was born February 7, 1947 in Magnolia, AR to Thomas Looney and Sarah McWhirter Looney Antoon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Gathright and both parents. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mike & Amy Gathright of Frisco, TX; grandchildren, Abby and Austin Gathright; her sister and brother-in-law, Gaye & James Calhoun of Mesquite, TX; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Maretta and Danny Bullock of Magnolia, AR; nieces and nephews, Tracy Williamson, Kerri and Brent Clark, Leigh and Jamie Horn, Alicia and Jeff Bullock, Jennifer Bullock, Hannah and Jason Bullock; special friend, Monte Lacy of Lake Kiowa, TX and numerous cousins, great nieces and great nephews.

Shayron graduated from Magnolia High School (1965) in Magnolia, AR and Baptist X-Ray School in Little Rock.  Shayron spent most of her career as an X-Ray Technician in various hospitals in Texas and Arkansas. She was able to spend much of her career serving medical communities with her beloved husband, including 28 years together in Arkadelphia.  Shayron loved to help others and was a fixture in the Arkadelphia community serving in the church, classroom or various activities while her son was in school. She also loved music, playing the piano and singing in the church choir. In recent years, Shayron had enjoyed reconnecting and traveling with her friends.  She loved the time she spent with her “Magnolia Blossoms”. After moving to Lake Kiowa in 2012, she enjoyed learning golf, volunteering with various fundraisers and singing in the Chapel choir.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, May 11th at the First Baptist Church of Arkadelphia with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery in Magnolia at 4:00 PM under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home. A reception will immediately follow the service in the Fellowship Hall. A celebration of life will be held at Lake Kiowa Lodge at a later date.
