Sharon Kay Reid, of Benton, Arkansas, (formerly of Qulin and Poplar Bluff, Missouri), passed away Saturday, September 24, 2023 at her home in Benton, Arkansas. Sharon was born January 25, 1944 in St. Louis, Missouri. She and Michael Reid were married on December 13, 2001 in Mississippi. Michael passed away January 7, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Wilson and Helen Smith of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Sharon had formal training in piano and several other instruments, as well as a special talent for being able to hear a song and sit down and play it on the piano. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from A.S.U., Jonesboro, Arkansas in 1970. She taught at Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff, and public schools in Missouri, Arkansas, and Tennessee. Sharon served as Music Director and pianist for churches and was a musician/composer/performer in Nashville, Tennessee. Sharon was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Amy Pullen and son-in-law, J.D. Pullen of Paducah, Kentucky; three grandchildren: Scott, Stephen, and Trey; sister, Joyce Royal Curtis of Benton, Arkansas; brother, J.C. Smith; sister-in-law, Cindy of Piedmont, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; and many family members and friends who love Sharon and will miss her always.
Celebration of Life, officiated by Pastor John Gregory, will be held October 14, 2023, at First United Methodist Church, 500 N. Main Street, Poplar Bluff, Missouri, with visitation held 10:00-11:00 AM, followed by service at 11:00 AM. Burial at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
