Sharon Marie Hill, 82, of Benton, Arkansas went to be with the Lord June 5, 2024. She was born May 12, 1942 in Portland, Oregon to the late George B. and Mary G. (Hines) Colby.
Sharon loved the Lord and devoted her life working for Him. She was a member of Benton First Church of the Nazarene. Sharon served alongside her late husband, James Tomas Hill, as he pastored several Nazarene churches and was camp director for South Arkansas in Mena for over ten years. She loved all children and had the gift of knowing each of them by name. Her love for children was evident as she worked for Benton schools as a bus driver and in the cafeteria. She also led Children’s Church where she used puppets and other creative objects to teach life changing lessons. Sharon was a talented seamstress. Many times her children woke up to matching outfits to wear on vacation. She was a dedicated caregiver and nurturer to those needing help. She always put others first and made sure everyone had what they needed. Sharon adored her family and spending time together. She made sure to invest time with her family. Each spring break and summer, Sharon would have all her grandchildren come stay with her. She made sure they could all attend Kids Camp. Her main concern was for everyone’s soul-especially her family’s. She was the true definition of a servant and a Godly woman. She exemplifies and lived out Proverbs 31 each and every day.
Preceding Sharon in death are her husband of 66 years, James Tomas Hill; children: Tina Friemel and Tonya Baldwin; parents, George and Mary (Hines) Colby; and siblings: George Colby, Mary Farley, Edwin Colby, Glenn Colby, Carol Dietz, and Judy Evans.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory two daughters: Tammie Ayers and husband Buddy of Benton, Arkansas and Teresa Hinton and husband Mark of Benton, Arkansas; nine grandchildren: Brandon Ayers, Beth Ayers, Amberly Thornton and husband Brad, Jared Friemel and wife Summer, Brittany Richey and husband Jason, Courtney Stott and husband Skylyr; Blake Ayers and wife Chesney, Baylea Ayers, and Stephanie Friemel; seven great-grandchildren: Allie Fryar, Braeleigh Thornton, Ian Richey, Ethan Richey, Liam Camery, Sawyer Stott, and Emma Camery; brother, Stanley Colby of Berryville, Arkansas; and a host of family and friends who love Sharon and will miss her always.
