Sharon Kay (Morris) Blakley was born November 14, 1953 to Clarence and Dorothy Morris and was raised in North Little Rock. She passed away Friday morning, two days after her 65th birthday. Sharon was one of six siblings and collected many friends as she grew up in her large, active, and close-knit family. She married Van Blakley when she was 18 years old and had two sons who she took great delight in raising. Sharon was full of life and enthusiasm; she never met a stranger and added value to the lives of those she knew and loved. Her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren recognized her "specialness" because she made them feel so special. She was a salesperson extraordinaire who truly believed in the products she sold, be it a Rainbow Vacuum or anything else.
Sharon believed in the Acts 2:38 Plan of Salvation and started attending First Pentecostal Church in 1990. God gave her the talent of getting people to come to church with her. She started working at the church in 1995, and for the next twenty years was the spark behind events and activities at the church. Once she challenged the entire church in an attendance drive and won! Her great zeal and passion to win lost souls made her a compassionate director of the drug and alcohol recovery program for those with addictions. She had a special gift for developing themes and organizing events and could make the project come to life with such enthusiasm that everyone wanted to help and work toward making the vision come to pass. Sharon loved people of all ages. Her imagination had no limits, whether it was building sets and directing a youth play, creating a 20,000 square foot Winter Wonderland for children of all ages, or organizing a candle-lit dinner on a bridge for the married couples, she was always found working heartily for the Lord. Sharon adored both Pastor Nathan Holmes and Bishop Joel Holmes, whom she often referred to as a Modern day Moses.
She will be greatly missed by her two sons; Van Blakley, Jr, and Chris (Tanya) Blakley; her grandchildren, Brodie, Brennen, Bridgette, Ginger, Broox, Ellie Rose, Brette, and Heidi; mother, Dorothy Morris; brothers, Ronald (Twila) Morris, Rev. Keith (Nita) Morris, Lynn (Vanessa) Morris; and sisters, Marsha Perrymore and Susan (Jim) Baughman; many nieces and nephews, her church family at FPC, and a great host of friends.
