Shannon “Earl” Johnson, age 76, of Bonnerdale, fell asleep in Jesus on Saturday March 8, 2025. Shannon was born on June 27, 1948, in Norfolk, Virginia, the son of William and Helen Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William “Bill” Johnson and Douglas Johnson; and his son Kirk Johnson. While still young, his family moved to Texas where Shannon graduated from Haltom High School in 1966. Shannon served in the army and later worked for Brown and Root. He lived in Texas prior to moving to Arkansas in 1997.
Shannon was a member of the Bonnerdale Seventh-day Adventist Church for over twenty years. He was never one to want to draw attention to himself, instead he preferred to work behind the scenes in helping people and at his church.
He is survived by his wife of over twenty-five years, Evette Johnson; sister and brother-in-law Sharon and Jim Mills of Crossville, Tennessee; his daughter, Kathy Jordan of Texas; his son, Shawn Johnson of Texas; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members and many wonderful friends. Memorial services will be held by the family at 10 AM Sunday, March 16, in the Bonnerdale Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor Mitch Elrod officiating.
The family requests that instead of flowers donations be made to Maranatha.org water wells in Shannon’s memory. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home and Crematory, Hot Springs.
