Sarah Marceda (Marcee) Andrews Van Pelt, 87, of North Little Rock, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2014. She was born in Delight, Arkansas. She retired from Southwestern Bell after 46 years of service, of which 20 years were spent in Austin, Texas. She was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir for many years. She was the secretary of LLL club, and coordinator for Arkansas Baptist News readings done for the blind. Mrs. Van Pelt was also a member of Friendship Club, Women in Missions, and Red Hatters. Besides worshipping at her church, she enjoyed painting in oils and growing African violets.
She is survived by her daughter, Laura Hritz; granddaughters, Marcy Falkner and Katrina Hritz-Saffell and her husband Steven; great-grandchildren, Kelsey Falkner and Kyle Falkner; great-great-grandson, Bray Falkner; nieces, Karon Saunders and Patsy Lively; cousins, Dick Treas, Dude Treas, and Shawntell Pokorny; and faithful four-legged friend, Angel. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Samuel and Laura Treas Andrews; husband, Thomas Jackson Van Pelt; sister, Loreda Andrews Bradford and her husband Ordis; and niece, Sharon Cunningham.
Memorials may be made to Park Hill Baptist Church, 201 E 'C' Street, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72116.
The family will receive friends at 1:30 p.m. and a graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Rest Hills Memorial Park, Sherwood. Arrangements by Smith - North Little Rock Funeral Home. Online obituary at www.smithfamilycares.com .
