Sarah Winona ?Nonie? Johnson, 87, of Sherwood, died Tuesday, August 7, 2007, after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Johnson was born March 26, 1920, in Prairie County near Des Arc, daughter of L. W. and Mary Ethel Langford.
She was working at the Pine Bluff Arsenal when she met her future husband, Warrant Officer Robert F. Johnson. As a military wife, she lived in Germany and Okinawa after WWII, and in several other states before they moved back to Little Rock after his retirement.
While working with the Guardian Co. in Little Rock, she was elected president of Little Rock Business Women. She later worked 25 years as legal secretary for Little Rock School District superintendents starting with Dr. Paul Fair.
She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock for more than 50 years.
A beautiful lady, she always surrounded herself with beauty in her yard, her home and her family and friends who were drawn to her wit and charm and her kitchen.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, a son, David E. Johnson, and a brother, Lt. Rayburn Langford.
Survivors include one son, Danny Johnson and wife, Deanna, of Sherwood; seven grandsons; four granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; and one
sister, Dean Walls of Des Arc.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Edgewood Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main, 758-1170. Online obituary and guest register at www.nlrfh.com.
