Sara McGinnis

Sara K. (Sally) McGinnis, of Arkadelphia, died Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock. She was born July 24, 1937 in Jayton, Texas the daughter of Eldon Cameron Wade and Corrine Knight Wade. She and her husband, Dr. Wayne D. McGinnis were married August 29, 1970 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Sally received her B. S. degree from Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway and her M. S. degree in natural science from the University of Arkansas. She taught chemistry at North Little Rock High School and Siloam Springs, Arkansas High School. She was the instructor of Chemistry at Ouachita Baptist University and Henderson State University.

Sally was an artist, a hobby she greatly enjoyed along with a lifelong passion for reading. She had been a member of the Arkadelphia Country Club and a dedicated golfer.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Arkadelphia.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Wayne D. McGinnis; one sister, Dr. Susan Wink and her husband, Dr. John Wink of Arkadelphia; one brother, Lesley Farley Wade and his wife, Jane of Clarksville, Arkansas; along with several nieces and nephews.

Sally will be remembered with feeling by all who knew her.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, September 8th at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Arkadelphia. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Arkadelphia or to Henderson State University Foundation.
