Santosh Bhagat
Santosh Bhagat passed away after a brief illness, on Saturday, November 11, 2018, at the age of 77 years. Santosh will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Manju, and his children, Amit (Lauri) and Rajesh (Manisha), and Payal (Anil) Kumar. Santosh will also be forever remembered by his seven grandchildren, Siddharth, Adidev, Anjali, Aadi, Amara, Anchal, and Yashika.
Santosh was born to Dr. Captain Maheshwar and Gayamani Bhagat in Ranchi, India on December 20, 1940. He lived with his mother and four other siblings during his early years when his father was captured as prisoner of war for seven years during world war two in Burma. Upon his return, Santosh's father became a Civil Surgeon and had two more children. His father had a travelling job, therefore Santosh lived in several cities in Bihar. He married Manju Bhagat on March 6, 1967. Both Manju and Santosh were dedicated to their marriage, raising three children together, and sticking it out during hard times.
Santosh lived in the Gandhi era and thus kept his life very simple and never cared about materialistic things. He loved the arts and appeared in several programmes in All India Radio, Doordarshan (India TV), and was also cast in several regional movies of Jharkhand. He loved to sing and would get thrilled if there was singing or karaoke in any party or get togethers.
He had an open mind and would try something new even if it was very different than he was used to. Every time he visited USA, if something about culture, food, or place interested him, he would document his experiences and then go back and write articles about it to be published at local newspapers and other media. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
A Celebration Service in memory of Santosh will be held on November 12, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., at the Little Rock Funeral Home. A private cremation will follow.
