Sandra Hicks passed away Saturday, December 10 surrounded by her family and close friends. Born June 11, 1943 in Earle, Arkansas, she had a big heart and a great smile!
Though some thought her to be intimidating, Sandra was a mystery. Once she knew you, she would do anything for you – always loyal to her family and friends. She was a lady of strength, values, and ethics. If she had an opinion, she let you know it. If you needed a hug, she had one for you. And if you wanted to know how things needed to be done, she would tell you. She was a mom to all; a guidance counselor; a teacher, but most of all a friend.
She accepted Christ and was baptized as a teenager at Second Baptist Church in Downtown Little Rock.
A 1961 graduate of Little Rock Central High School, Sandra began her career at Capital Wholesale in the accounting department where she met Peggy Barnett, who soon became family to her.
She would go on to work for Balch Motor Company for 30 years, enjoying her role there with the Balch family who meant the world to her. It was here she met another lifelong friend who became family, Lynn Seabaugh. Sue and Alan Crump became dear friends through her time here as well.
Through these years, Sandra’s extended family grew to include “sons and daughter” Jeff and Mark Seabaugh and Sherrie Barnett whom she spoiled and disciplined as if they were her own. She met Margaret Moser and Lavonne Smith, who later would become her best running mates and dinner companions.
Sandra worked for Riverside Acura and Russell Chevrolet – serving in various positions through the years, where she again added to her extended family – Leigh Brown and several other close friends.
Sandra was preceded in death by her mother Robbie Lucado Hicks, Uncle Doc and Aunt Sue Lucado. She is survived by her sister, Mary Tatum of Ft. Smith; niece Leslie Vaughan, nephew Bryant Tatum, great nephew Ducati Tatum, extended family, Peggy Barnett, Sherrie Landers, Tripp Shollmier, Jeff Seabaugh, Mark Seabaugh, Lavonne Smith, Leigh Brown, Sylvia Chaparro, Clay and Lolly Stewart and many, many more. She is also survived by her fur legged babies, Lilly and Gracie.
She was extremely creative and had a passion for arts and crafts, as well as baking. Most days she would bake a new recipe to share with her office friends or neighbors.
Sandra did ceramics, tole painting, made wreaths and cross stitch pieces for those she loved.
She enjoyed travel and saw many places throughout the country. She was an avid sports fan, cheering on the Razorbacks and attending games when she was able.
On behalf of those who loved her most, THANK YOU to Silvia Chaparro for allowing Sandra to stay fiercely independent in her home and for caring for her and her fur babies.
A celebration of life will be held Visitation will be at 1:00PM Friday, December 16, 2022 at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home (1921 Main Street) with a funeral service immediately following at 2:00PM. She will be laid to rest in Millington, Tennessee at West Union Cemetery.
