Sam Smith

Sam Smith, 83, of Ward went to be with the Lord April 16, 2020.  He was born May 8, 1936.

Sam served in the United States Army for two years, before obtaining a degree in radio and television electronics.  He owned an alternator shop in Cabot.  Sam farmed, bought and sold real estate, and was especially known as a concealed handgun instructor.

He was married to his high school sweetheart, Glenda, for over 65 years.  Together they enjoyed many hobbies, including traveling.  Sam was a devoted member of Faith Baptist Church, and a mason.

He was preceded in death by his parents Burl and Edith Smith, brothers; Alvin Smith, Julius Smith, and Jimmy Smith, sisters; Madge King, Lottie Stubbs, Dorothy Dube, and Adlee Straton, and daughter-in-law Sheri Smith.

Sam is survived by his wife, Glenda, sons Nick Smith (Donna), Jeff Smith (Shelley) and daughter Pam Bryant (Tim), four grandchildren; Chad Bryant (Ashley), Haylea Luffman (Jarod), Becca Smith, Zac Smith, and three great-grandchildren; Rhett and Beckett Bryant, and Cambri Luffman.  He is also survived by three brothers; JB Smith, Gene Smith, and Gary Smith, sister Sharon Bass, and many nieces, nephew, and friends.

Open Visitation will be at Smith – Westbrook Funeral Home, Sunday, April 19, 2020 from 1:00PM – 5:00PM.  Graveside service will be 2:00PM Monday at Oak Grove Cemetery, Ward.  Arrangements by Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home. www.SmithFamilyCares.com
