Sally Irene Durbin

Sally Irene (Moore) Durbin, 84, of Sherwood, Arkansas passed away April 7, 2023. She was born October 15, 1938, in Alexandria, Louisiana to the late Edward and Bessie Moore.

She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Jimmy Lazarone; three brothers and two sisters. Irene is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Lawrence Paul Durbin, Jr.; children, Cynthia Siegrist, Robert Durbin, David Durbin (Linda); grandchildren, Chasity, Shawna, Nick, Josh, Kristin, Kyle, Austin and Zack; twenty-one great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Irene was an avid reader and spent countless hours in her books. She was a talented crocheter and loved to cook for everyone. Her family never knew who might show up for dinner! Though she was small in stature she had the biggest heart and was loved by all who knew her. Irene spent many years as the manager of the Sherwood Bowling Center and was the smiling face you saw as soon as you walked in the door. She was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and Sacristan. Her go to line was always “I’m Fine” and we know she is “fine” in the arms of Jesus.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Gentiva Hospice, in particular Stephanie and Cynthia, for the love and care that they gave Ms. Irene and the family.

Visitation will be 6:00PM-7:00PM Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Smith Sherwood Funeral Home (7700 Hwy 107) with a rosary beginning at 7:00PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00AM Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (7000 JFK Blvd.) with burial following at 12:00PM at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.
