Ruth Whitfield Witkowski of North Little Rock left her earthly home on December 26, 2015 at 8:15 pm to taste the blessedness of the Lord's perfect rest. She was born in Bunkie, Louisiana-Avoyelles Parish on June 24, 1925 to Harvey Whitfield and Fanny Norman Whitfield Rook. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Marion Edward Witkowski, grandson Gregory Fortner, and great grandson, Jessie Fortner. She is survived by two sisters, Ila Stanley of Vilonia, Arkansas, Elvie Barker of Las Vegas, and six children, Georgia Fortner Rogers (Carl) of Romance, Arkansas, Tommy Witkowski, Marilyn Wright (Tommy), Steve Witkowski (Beckey), Susi Witkowski and Randy Witkowski (Stephanie) all of North Little Rock. Through the years she has been blessed with 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
A devoted wife and mother, Ruthie was the stabilizing force behind her husbands development company. An avid gardener and a second MOM to many. True to the meaning of her name Ruth, Proverbs 31:20. "She opens her hand to the poor, and reaches out her hands to the needy." She was kind, generous, humorous, comforting and you never left her home with an empty stomach or without a bite of watermelon.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and the celebration of her life will be on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Smith - North Little Rock Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in Edgewood Memorial Park with her husband and mother.
Many blessings to those who made her life comfortable and happy this past year - Gracie and Katy, Flo, Theresa, Marilyn M. and Sarah.
Goodnight Mom.
