Ruth Smith, age 80, of Glenwood, went to be with her Lord with her family by her side on Wednesday, July 9, 2014. She was born on October 9, 1933 at Hot Springs, the daughter of Boyton Anthony Huxtable and Nina Margaret Worthen Huxtable. On December 25, 1952, she married Everett Smith, Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce and John Taylor, Dolores and Ray Smiley, Ted Broughton and Diego Uriegas. In 1963, Everett moved Ruth and Tony to Glenwood to take a position at Davis Funeral Home. Ruth purchased the Flower Shop in 1977 and operated it until 1985. She was proud of Everett's 60 years in funeral service as he was awarded the Arkansas Funeral Director of the Year in 2011 and Tony's appointment to the Arkansas State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors in 2003, where he served for nine years and as president for six years. In 1986, Ruth was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, and as she coped with the disease, she became an inspiration to many as she was determined to never let it defeat her. Ruth was an avid traveler and enjoyed seeing the world her God had created. She enjoyed music, laughing, shopping and adored her family. She was a member of the Glenwood First Baptist Church where she served as Sunday school secretary for many years.
