Ruth Smedley

Ruth Marie Garner Smedley, age 78 of Arkadelphia died Thursday at the Advanced Care Hospital in Hot Springs. She was born July 10, 1928 in Amity, AR the daughter of the late Lucious L. and Grace Williams Garner. She was a retired switchboard operator at Henderson State University and was preceded in death by her husband David Henry Smedley and one brother.


Survivors include two sons, Rex Smedley of Austin, TX and David Smedley of Texarkana, TX; one daughter, Janice Holcemback of Bowie, TX; one brother, Gerald Garner of Stamps, AR; two sisters, Mattie Neel and Maxine Myers both of Arkadelphia; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.


Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Saturday in the Rose Hill Cemetery with Rev. Larry Newsom officiating. Interment under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home.
