Ruth Kittle

Ruth Peachey Kittle went to be with the Lord June 27, 2021, in Conway, Arkansas, surrounded by loved ones. She was 99.
She was born September 1, 1921, in Dallas, Texas, to John and Pearl Peachey. She was the fifth of nine very active children and often recounted tails of playing tree tag with her siblings. Following graduation from high school at the age of 16, she attended college at John Brown University where she met her future husband, Royce Kittle.

Her greatest desire was that her children know the Lord and she began teaching them stories from the Bible at a very early age. With that motivation her ministry extended to include the neighborhood children, using the Good News Club from Child Evangelism as her model. She was delighted to know that all seven of her children accepted the Lord as Savior, and she continued to instill in them the importance of studying the Bible as they grew.

In her mid-thirties circumstances led her to complete college with a degree in Elementary Education at Ohio Northern University. She and Royce both worked and attended college while rearing their children. For the next 22 years she enriched the lives of hundreds of second graders with her enthusiasm for learning.

Ruth’s retirement began at age 60 and for the next 39 years she graciously gave of her time, revealing another of her amazing gifts—caregiving. She traveled the entire United States serving many family members as comforter, counselor or cook, tending young and old alike.

She stayed mentally and physically active her entire life. She hiked, camped, and rafted just to share outdoor activities with her children and grandchildren. She kept her mind sharp by reading, solving crossword puzzles, and playing board games and card games, also with her children. Most important to her, though, was her daily time of Bible study and prayer.

Ruth was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Royce, and sons John and Jim. She is survived by wife of Jim, Lindy Kittle; daughter Judy Johnson and her husband Larry; son Mike Kittle and his wife Lynda; son Dana Kittle and his wife Kim; daughter Paula Kittle; daughter Betsy Kankel and her husband Don; sister Elizabeth Peachey; nineteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

A memorial celebration will be held in West Plains, Missouri on July 31, 2021. In lieu of flowers Ruth has requested donations to Operation Grace World Missions, P.O. Box 19501, Houston, Texas 77224; or call (713) 951-6965. To sign the online guestbook, click “Add A Memory” at: www.griffinleggettconway.com
