Ruth Virginia Walker Kirby, age 88 years old, of North Little Rock passed away on November 15, 2016 in North Little Rock, AR after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born on October 16, 1928 in Crockett County, Tennessee to Nicholas and Bertie Walker.
Ruth was a homemaker who was a devoted wife, mother, Nana and friend. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
She is preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 70 years Finis Kirby; her daughter Deborah Polk (Patrick) and son Randy Kirby (Kathy); her brother James Walker. She will be missed by her four grandchildren Ginger (Stephen), Bradley (Mindi), Donya, and Deanne (Ron). She also has 10 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild and other extended family that will miss her dearly.
The Kirby family would like to give special thanks to Kelly and Denise at Gentiva Hospice for all their loving care, and to friends Vaughn and Tommie for their Christian love.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 21, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at Smith-Sherwood Funeral Home 7700 Hwy 107 Sherwood, AR. A visitation for family and friends will be held before the service from 11:00 a.m -12:00 p.m.
Burial will follow at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.
