Ruth Alma Brackett Carpenter, 92, of Little Rock, passed away on March 31, 2020. She was born in West Ridge, Arkansas on April 12, 1927 to James Moses and Ethel (Pyatt) Brackett. She was born at home during the 1927 flood and the doctor traveled by horseback through the waters for her delivery.
She is survived by her son, Warren Carpenter (Judy) of Little Rock; grandchildren, Hunter Carpenter (Megan) of Dallas,Texas and Lindsey Gray (Phillip) of Little Rock; seven great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Shirley Brackett Mathey of Hot Springs Village; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dale Carpenter, son, Eddie Carpenter and four siblings.
The most important thing in Ruth's life was her walk with God. She was a strong Christian lady and her faith in the Lord was an example to many.
Early in Ruth's life she was a legal secretary. At the age of 50, she and her husband started their own business, Unpainted Furniture Center in Little Rock.
Services for Mrs. Carpenter will be private. Memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to one's favorite charity.
