In Loving Memory of Rusty Johnson
April 2, 1973 – April 11, 2025
Rusty Johnson, 52, of Austin, Arkansas, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 11, 2025, alongside his beloved wife, Bonny. Born on April 2, 1973, in Benton, Arkansas, Rusty lived a life filled with faith, music, laughter, and a deep love for his family. A true Arkansas fan through and through, Rusty loved cheering on the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Dallas Cowboys. He could talk sports all day long—bantering, debating, and dishing out his sarcastic signature wit whether you asked for it or not. His humor was one-of-a-kind, sharp as ever, and always delivered with a grin.
Rusty was not only a sports fan but a gifted musician. He was an anointed singer and multi-instrumentalist, best known as the regular keyboard player at his home church, Freedom Worship Center in Little Rock. His worship was heartfelt, powerful, and touched the lives of many. It brings peace to know that Rusty is now singing and playing at the feet of the Master in heaven.
He had a deep love for his family—especially his children, Hannah and James, and his cherished pets. Rusty was known for his great taste in music and never missed an opportunity to treat Bonny to a concert, a trip, or a spontaneous adventure. Their love was full of joy, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Rusty was respected and loved by his work family at Quality Trucking and throughout the trucking industry. He built a reputation for excellence and integrity, and his presence will be deeply missed.
Rusty is preceded in death by his mother, Minnie Hogue-Johnson. He is survived by his father, Harold Johnson, and his wife, Pat Johnson; his children, Hannah Dyson (husband Tiernan Pierce) and James Michael McIntyre; his father- and mother-in-law, Michael and Karen Vaught; and his brothers, Randy Johnson (wife Paula) and Roger Johnson. He also leaves behind many dear friends and a cherished church family who will miss him deeply and remember him with love.
Rusty’s talent, warmth, and humor left a mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will live on in the music he played, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave so freely.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 18th from 6:00-8:00 pm at Smith Westbrook Funeral Home, 404 W Dewitt Henry, Beebe, AR 72012. The Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 19th at 2:00 pm at Freedom Worship Center, 13305 Lawson Road, Little Rock, AR.
