Russell Dee Campbell, age 93, of Houston, Arkansas passed away on Sunday, October 27th, 2024. He was born in Cabot Arkansas on December 13th, 1930 to the late William Vernon and Sue Ella Day Campbell. He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Long Campbell who he married on July 11, 1955. They were married 66 years before her passing in 2021; and by his daughter Deborah Campbell.
Russell grew up in England, Arkansas and graduated from Little Rock Tech High. He joined the Air Force, was inducted on September 1st, 1954 and was discharged as a Staff Sergeant, August 31, 1958. Once out of the service he began his career in the Grocery business, working at Kroger until he owned his own grocery store, Corder’s Model Market on Kavanaugh in the Heights. He also ventured into the restaurant business with his son-in-law Buddy Goodwin where they had Bard’s on N. Grant in the Heights for 10 years, and then other jobs that kept him busy during his retirement years. He and his wife Virginia loved to travel, would load up the Motor Home and hit the road. He and Virginia were long time members of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Bigelow.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Carlotta and Buddy Goodwin of Paron, Arkansas, by four grandchildren, Jennifer Hardeman (John), Jason Goodwin(Stephanie), Holly Goodwin (Kristen), and Josh Campbell.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 1st, 2024 in the Chapel at Smith Family Funeral Home-Conway (1751 Dave Ward Dr., Conway) from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Memorial Mass will be held November 6th, 2024 at 10:30am at the St. Boniface Catholic Church (20 St Boniface Dr.) in Bigelow, Arkansas.
