Rufus Jenkins, age 83, of Glenwood, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022.
He was born on December 9, 1938, in Glenwood, the son of Otis Henderson Jenkins and Ora Mae Orrick Jenkins. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert “Bob” Jenkins and Jimmy Jenkins; the mother of his children, Wilma Joyce Jenkins; his son-in-law, Norman Barnette; and his sister-in-law, Aline Jenkins.
Rufus worked for many years as a logger and enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, riding dirt bikes and four-wheelers. He loved family get-togethers and was a dedicated family man, who adored his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also had two other great loves and that was for his French bulldog, Bam-Bam and his bird, Smokey, who had been with him for over forty years, and were both great companions to Rufus throughout his life.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Darlene Barnette, Ronald and Tammie Jenkins, all of Glenwood and Danny and LeeAnn Jenkins of Argyle, Texas; ten grandchildren and their spouses, Phillip and Starla Pry, Christopher Pry, Kimberly and Benjamen Wolever, Angelia and Marty Jenkins, Sabrina and Denis Guillette, Josh Jenkins, Danielle Jenkins, Emma Jenkins, Zach Saye and Summer Saye; seventeen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jack Jenkins (Jessie) and Tommy and Daisy Jenkins, all of Glenwood; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 14, 2022, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Keith Howell officiating.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Coker Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dan Dollar, Ricky Johnson, Kyle Johns, Jeremy Williamson, Ben Wolever and Josh Jenkins.
