Heaven called another Saint home on Friday November 20th 2015, Ruby Lee Sutton Shipman Rollins age 94, of Arkadelphia. She was born to James Jefferson and Mary May Riter Sutton on Dec 18 1920 in Royal AR. and spent her childhood in Hot Springs AR . She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Earl Ransom Sutton; her husband, Sol G Rollins; her granddaughter, Angela Burgess; sons-in-law, Tom Burgess and Richard Collie; grandson- in- law, Dennis Lolies; and daughter-in-law Pegi Rollins.
Ruby was a faithful Christian and eldest member of the First Nazarene Church. Widowed at a young age she raised her children on faith and prayer. Every night you would go to sleep hearing her praying. Prayers and her steadfast faith showed in her life as she lived every day with Christ as her closet friend, confidante and rock. Through the years she worked at the Clark County Hospital and retired from the Human Development Center.
Her church was the center of her life for Christ. Her home was always open to people. If you were down on your luck her door was open. She never had a lot materially but shared her meager home and Christ with others.
She loved her grandchildren and spent many hours with them great grandchildren were her delight and great-great grandchildren were her joy.
She had many friends and spent lots of hours with Mildred Suggs, Viola Williams and Annette Milloway on many excursions. She loved her Pioneer EHC club and Quilters Guild. Special thanks to Rose and Steve Wilson who were always ready to help Mom and family any way possible. She held many offices in church but the one she loved the most was her nursery ministry for over sixty years.
She is survived by her sons, James Shipman of Maud, TX, George (Beverly) Rollins of Dallas, TX; four daughters, Linda (Mickey) Smith of Arkadelphia, Mary Collie of Arkadelphia, Sola Burgess of Duncanville, TX. and Sarah (Dana) Braquet of Hamshire, TX.; daughter in law, Lynn Martina of Maud, TX.; ten grandchildren, Jimmy Shipman of Maud, TX., Jeffrey (Teresa) Smith of Redwater, TX., Randy (Deon) Smith of Stockton, CA., Kim Lolies of Maud, TX., Janetta (Stan) Hayden of North Little Rock AR., Katye (Stephen) Birdsong of Queen City, TX., Michael (Leann) Collie of Friendship, Kandee (Michael) Adcock of Maud, TX., Denise (Rene) Rosas of Houston, TX., and Alex (Annika) Butler of Richmond TX.; twenty-six great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren.
