Ruby "Jeanette" Maddox

Jeanette (Crownover) Maddox, 89, of North Little Rock, Arkansas, died December 31, 2024, at Fox Ridge Assisted Living center in North Little Rock. She was born in Formosa, Arkansas, on Mother's Day, May 12, 1935, to William Daniel Crownover and Pearl (Winningham) Crownover. She was the youngest and last surviving sibling of her family of 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Jeanette graduated highschool in Clinton, Arkansas, in the class of 1953, and she moved to Little Rock shortly thereafter. On December 17, 1954, in Little Rock, Arkansas, she married the love of her life, Gene Edward Maddox, originally of Clinton, Arkansas. The couple lived in Little Rock until moving to North Little Rock in 1964. Jeanette worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone from 1953 until the birth of her son and only child, Steven Edward Maddox, in 1966. After that, she was a mother, homemaker, gardener, seamstress, caretaker of her elderly family and neighbors, and a friend to many. When Gene retired from the Arkansas State Police in 1987, Gene and Jeanette became regular participants in the Friday night music group at the Jack Evans Senior Center in Sherwood, Arkansas, until Gene's death in 2017. They were married 62 years. Jeanette is survived by her son, Steve Maddox, of North Little Rock, and 15 of her 22 nieces and nephews. She will be buried in the Clinton Cemetery next to her husband, Gene, on January 14, 2025. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Jeanette's memory to a charity of your choice.

To Those I Love If I should ever leave you whom I love To go along the Silent Way, Grieve not, Nor speak of me with tears, But laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you there. I‘d come - I‘d come, could I but find a way! But would not tears and grief be barriers? And when you hear a song Or see a bird I loved, Please do not let the thought of me be sad... For I am loving you just as I always have... You were so good to me! There are so many things I wanted still to do - So many things to say to you... Remember that I did not fear... It was just leaving you that was so hard to face... We cannot see Beyond... But this I know: I love you so - Twas heaven here with you!
