Ruby Jean Bailey Brown, 81, of North Little Rock went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 16, 2013.
She is survived by her son-in-law, William "Bill" Monk; two grandchildren, Alesia Duffy (Jay Paul Duffy) and Tommy Sewell, Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Lauren Johnston, Dylan Johnston, and Cole Sewell; three great-great-grandchildren, Aaden Johnston, Arabella Johnston and Matthew Johnston; and her "adopted" family members, Cyndi Hettesheimer, Efren "Greg" Tragico and Sunil P. Mistry.; and nieces, Debbie, Lynette, Robin and Raven; and many other friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents Ira Dewey Bailey and Lottie Ethel Liles Bailey, her husband, Melvin E. Brown; two brothers, Billy Joe Bailey and Forrest Ray Bailey; sister, Martha Ann Bailey Nance; and two daughters, Jeannie Carol Brown Smith and Patricia "Tish" Jean Monk.
Ruby, "Mammaw", as she was called by her family, was very devoted to her family. She took care of not only her children but her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She lived for her family. She was the family "Superwoman", and was their "Rock." She never rested; she was always on the move and could run circles around most people. She loved to garden and be outdoors. She enjoyed trips with her husband and her family.
She worked for many years as a devoted employee at Lyon's pharmacy and then as the office manager for her son-in-law at Bill's Lock and Safe until she retired to help raise her great-great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Long Term Acute Care Unit at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock for their hard work and devotion in her final weeks.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UAMS Myeloma Institute.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, a Smith Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in Grissard Cemetery, El Paso, AR. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Online obituary at www.SmithFamilyCares.com.
