Roy Phelps
Roy Phelps age 79, of Brown Springs (Hot Spring Co.) died Sunday, July 8, 2007 in Hot Springs. He was born August 15, 1927 in Brown Springs, the son of Joe "Uncle Joe" and Nettie Sirratt Phelps. Roy was a farmer, worked at International Paper Co., a mechanic at Mid-Ark Truck Stop in Arkadelphia and a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean war. His wife, Aline Pasley Phelps and two brothers, Floyd Phelps and Paul Phelps preceded him in death.
Survivors include two brothers, Jimmie Joe Phelps and his wife, Sharon of Brown Springs; Frank Phelps and his wife, Wayne of Bastrop, LA.; four sisters, Bonnie Roberts of Arkadelphia; Ruby Callison of Kiowa, KN.; Mary Ferree and Betty McElyea both of Joan, AR.; two sisters-n-law, Virginia Phelps of Joan; Laverne Phelps of Donaldson; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at Ruggles-Wilcox Chapel in Arkadelphia with Bro. James Calhoun and Bro. Paul Bass officiating. Interment will be in Jones Cemetery at Brown Springs. Pallbearers will be Donnie Rankin, Kelly McElyea, Jim Harrison, Donald Whitworth, Jessie L. Newborn, Martin K. Newborn, William D. Green and Harold McKim. Visitation will be 6-7:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Jones Cemetery Fund% Patsy Abernathy 2265 Mallet Rd. Malvern, AR. 72104.
