Roy Gerald Morgan

Roy Gerald Morgan, was born on March 13th, 1943, in Washington County, Missouri, and passed away on March 29th, 2024, in Quitman Arkansas. He was the cherished child of Charles and Eathel Morgan.

Roy was a man with numerous skills and a strong commitment. Prior to becoming a truck driver, he had a short stint working in lead mines. It's hard to accurately describe how short it really was. He descended into the mines for only 4 hours before hitching a ride back up with another worker who was leaving. Despite his young age, Roy quickly gained a reputation for his exceptional work ethic and ability to bounce back from difficulties. He was always willing to offer assistance, especially in the aftermath of hurricanes and other disasters, by helping with cleanup efforts.

In 1984, Roy founded Morgan Trucking and became the first person in Arkansas to own a tri-axle truck, that he built himself demonstrating his innovative thinking and strong business acumen. He had a wide range of skills and was skilled in small engine repairs, demonstrating his ability to handle various tasks effectively. Roy maintained a professional partnership with Mallard Ready Mix for more than two decades. This evolved into long-lasting friendship with acquaintances.

Roy was not only successful in his professional life but also a committed family man. He tied the knot with Velta Morgan, his beloved, on August 21st, 1999, at their residence in Quitman, Arkansas. He leaves behind his wife and children: Patti (Jay) Lochridge, Brenda (Glen) Honey, Mike Piña, and Vicki (Richard) King. Additionally, he is survived by his, 'bonus son' Charles Campbell, grandchildren Erica Jensen, Brittney (Thomas) Moorhead, Monica Jensen, JJ Lochridge (Jorie), Sofia King, and Sylvia King, as well as great grandchildren Lexie Mcdurmont, Ava Lochridge, and Bristol Moorhead.

Roy's enduring strength continues to be a source of inspiration for his surviving family. Members, which include his sister, Sheila 'Sissy' Beck and one brother, Bobby Morgan (Rhonda) and a host of nieces and nephews.

Sadly Roy's parents Charles and Ethel Morgan, his grandson Lawrence Henry, brothers Tom and Bill Morgan, and sisters Jean Worden, Betty Skiles, Shirley Hollinsworth, and Faye Johnston, nieces Christa Beck, Kathy Worden, Glennes Fryman and nephew Micheal Skiles have all passed away.

Roy, an industrious man dedicated to his work, was recognized for his consistent look of a white T-shirt and jeans. He found joy in the simple and meaningful moments life had to offer, cherishing the heartfelt gestures, like receiving thoughtful cards and precious photographs from his beloved family members. Roy will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
