Roy Gordon Elrod, 90, of Little Rock, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2012. Born July 3, 1921 in Bryant to Rhodom S. and Gladys Hill Elrod, he was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of WWII and retired from Bass Printing after 43 years of service. He was a member of First Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his son, Randy (Elizabeth) of Hot Springs; daughters, Teresa McCain (Larry) of West Memphis and Rhonda Elrod of Little Rock; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and sisters, Bertha Salley of Houston, Texas, Frances Lynch of Little Rock and Floella Wilhelm of Alexander. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Edith Delores Elrod, brothers, Glenn Elrod, Lowell D. Elrod and sister, Lorene Anderson.
Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). Graveside services with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander, officiated by Pastor Ron Bacic. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church or the charity of one's choice.
