Rose Bertram

Rose Mary Kathleen Bertram, née Kugler, died April 24, 2012 at home, surrounded by family. Known by her friends and family as Rosemary or Rosie, she was born December 9, 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri to Marie (Brinker) and Rudolph Kugler. Rosemary was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Richard, her parents, and her sister, Audrey Kugler Troescher. She is survived by her brother, Robert Kugler, four sons and their spouses, Kim and Christi, Danny and Laura, Tom and Pam, Rob and Janet, eight grandchildren and their spouses, Rick (Meredith), Jamey, Chris, Becca, Erin Lewis (Paul), Jesse, Justin (Holly), and Melissa, and nine great-grandchildren. She was the loving matriarch of the family. Favorite pastimes included arguing current events, home decorating and sharing a love for automobiles with her sons.
Once an avid horsewoman, Rosemary was past treasurer for the Arkansas Racking Horse Association. Her love of all animals made her a popular target for stray dogs and cats looking for a home. During the 60s and 70s, she worked in cosmetic sales for Pfeifer's, then in teen and young women's clothing at Shelly Rand's. Rosemary concluded her outside working life as secretary-treasurer of her husband's gun shop, Little Rock Arms.
A service will be held at the pavilion of the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery at 1501 West Maryland, North Little Rock, on Friday, May 4, at noon. There will be an open house at her home at 20901 Presley Drive near Roland from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, May 5.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials to be made to Arkansas Hospice or the Pulaski County Humane Society, and to thank the teams from Arkansas Hospice and St. Vincent Home Care that helped make Rosie's final days comfortable.
Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct., Little Rock, (501)224-2200. Rosemary's online guestbook may be signed at www.littlerockfuneralhome.com.
