Ronald Finnley Lewis, 74, of Judsonia, shook hands with his savior on July 21, 2024. He was born the baby boy of five sisters on July 12,1950 to Virgil and Iris Lewis in Little Rock, Arkansas. He graduated from McClellan High School in 1968. Following his graduation, he served his country in the United States Air Force. He then continued to serve through law enforcement for 43 years. He retired from the Arkansas State Police as a CID Sergeant in charge of narcotics. Following his retirement, he continued to work in law enforcement serving as: director of Lonoke County Drug Task Force, Chief Deputy for Lonoke Sheriff’s Office and Assistant Chief of Police for Beebe Police Department.
Ron loved big and lived big. Adjectives used by family and friends include: hero, mischievous, faithful, giving, intelligent, Godly, funny, nurturing, protective and so loving. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, family adventures, being a dad and papaw, attending church and keeping in touch with old friends. He was an active member of the Beebe First Church of the Nazarene where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and on the church board.
Ron is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sherri Lewis, two daughters Hannah Lewis (Darrell) and Nicole Lewis, 4 grandchildren, Elijah Pate, Olivia Lewis, Caia Barber and Sebastian Lara, and one sister Linda (Gene) Taylor as well as a host of family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil Finley Lewis and Iris Ayleen Lewis as well as 4 sisters and their spouses: Loretha and Fredrick Wittenburg, Shirley and Jerry Frazier, Anna and Charles Mimms, and Wanda and Cecil House.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, 204 at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, 404 W. Dewitt Henry Dr., Beebe, Arkansas. The funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Beebe First Church of Nazarene, Beebe, Arkansas. Burial in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens in Beebe.
