Ronald J. "Ronnie" Smith, 67, of North Little Rock, departed this life for his heavenly home on August 25, 2016. He graduated from North Little Rock High School then went on to be a UCA Bear before graduating with a music major and P.E. minor. He was a retired conductor from the Union Pacific Railroad. After retirement he became half of Stanback Photography with Andrea. His passion was his music. He sang with numerous quartets over the years, including the Melody Boys. He loved playing and singing Gospel music. His father, Fred Smith sang with the original Melody Boys and was a member of the Dew Melody Boys. He became the minister of music at Lonoke Baptist Church and loved the people he worked with. He loved watching his grandsons and their teammates play baseball and he also loved riding motorcycles over the years.
He is survived by his daughters, Amanda Lingo (Greg Sr.) of Lonoke and Andrea Kinchen of North Little Rock; his first love Cynthia Smith; three grandchildren, Keith, Grant and Gunner Lingo; and his precious mother, Jo Laverne Smith; and very special aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also survived by his fur ball best friend, Jandy Smith. He was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Vernon Smith and his father, Fred Wesley Smith.
A memorial service will be held at 6 pm Thursday, September 1st with a visitation one hour prior to the service at Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home.
