Ronald Wayne Dunson

Ronald Wayne Dunson, 79 of Hickory Creek, TX passed away August 11, 2024, after a heroic fight with cancer. He was born in San Fernando, California on January 5th, 1945, to two sharecroppers from Langley, AR. “Uncle Ron” as we knew him grew up in between Kansas, Arkansas, & North Texas. He was a fiercely proud big brother, who would always tell you what a big deal they made for his brother being the first baby born in Nashville, AR in 1949. Ron excelled in academics and sports from an early age, playing both baseball and basketball. He would often reminisce about the beer he was served at the local pizza joint, “Pizza Hut” (as with everything Uncle Ron did, yes, the original Pizza Hut) in Wichita, Kansas when he was just fifteen because of how tall he was. He expressed the fun he would have getting pizza and beer with his friends, and how fun it was going on different dates with the girls around town. Uncle Ron met his match early on in life when he and Barbara Jeanne Fisher first started seeing each other at the Pizza Hut. As he finished out playing baseball in college Barbara or (Aunt) BJ informed him of their upcoming nuptials (he always liked to joke that he had no say in the matter, and she told him exactly where to be). In 1967 they were married, and Uncle Ron started his illustrious corporate career. His career lasted from 1967 to 2013 and his resume includes but is not limited to names such as Siemens, Motorola, LTV, and many others. Well known within his industry as a Quality Officer, Uncle Ron was known for “getting stuff done”. He would often mention how he was always behind the scenes taking care of things his bosses didn’t even know they wanted done. Uncle Ron was truly one of the most interesting men in the world. Of all his business accomplishments all paled in comparison to being married to BJ for fifty-four wonderful years. He would often complain about her Hallmark movies, but after she passed in 2021, you’d often find him in the middle of one of the many Hallmark Christmas movies (even in July). It would also be an injustice if we did not mention Uncle Ron & Aunt BJ’s fury children. He would often talk about the cats or dogs as their “little angels” and to the horror of everyone around would let Scooter, his feline partner in crime, eat bites out of his Jersey Mike’s sandwich.

Ron was preceded in death by his father Dewey Dunson, mother Ruby Dunson, brother Michael Dunson, and wife BJ Dunson. He is survived by his nephew Mitchell Dunson of McKinney, TX, niece Sara Jo Matthews of Arlington, TX, niece Ellie Nicholsen of Argyle, TX and niece Mariah Fisher of Arlington, TX.

We are so proud to have had you as our Uncle, we love you and will miss you immensely.

-Mitchell, Ellie, Mariah, Sara
