Ronald E. Aschbrenner 74, of Sherwood, Arkansas passed away at 3:30 pm on Saturday, September 19, 2020, at his home surrounded by family in Sherwood. Ron was born in Hampton, Iowa on March 1st, 1946, to the late Adolph and Ernestine Aschbrenner. He married Kay McConnell on April 21, 1969.

Ron is survived by his wife Kay; two siblings, Yvonne Cordell of Springfield, Missouri, Ann Johnson of Clarion, Iowa; three children, Steve Aschbrenner of Albia, Iowa, Cindi (Travis) Rigdon of Dunkerton, Iowa and Nathanial Aschbrenner of Cabot, Arkansas. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Trevor Rigdon, Austin Aschbrenner, Jared (Lindsey) Aschbrenner, Bryce Rigdon and Cassidy Rigdon.

Ron was happiest when he was in his boat fishing or hunting and spending time with family. Ron graduated from Cal high school in 1964 located in Iowa. During high school he was enlisted in the navy reserves and then went active duty in U.S Navy where he served on the USS Benner and USS Picking until 1966 where he received the Vietnam Service Medal as well as the National Defense Service Medal.  Ron began working for Chicago Northwestern in 1971 located in Oelwein, Iowa and worked for them until 1994. He then went on to work for Union Pacific in 1994 until he retired on March 1st, 2006 in Little Rock Arkansas.

Ron is preceded in death by his father Adolf and his mother Ernestine.

There was a family viewing at Smith-Westbrook located in Beebe, Arkansas with cremation following. The final resting place will be located in Oelwein, Iowa. Condolences may be sent to the family.  www.smithfamilycares.com
