Romie Burnett

US Marine and Veterans of WWII Romie E. Burnett, of North Little Rock, died peacefully Friday, June 25th. He was born on March 10, 1919 to Emmett E. and Mary D. Burnett and grew up in North Little Rock. He became a carpenter and worked in that vocation for over 50 years, helping build such landmarks as the Lakewood House, McCain Mall, Park Plaza and the Gazette Building. He enjoyed fishing and hunting deer and duck, and was an avid gun collector.
In addition to his parents, Romie was preceeded in death by his wife, Charlene Stewart Burnett, son, Johnny Ray Burnett, and three brothers: Glen, Ray, and Leman Burnett.
He is survived by his son, Bill Burnett; daughter-in-law, Diane Burnett; grandson, P.W. Burnett; grandson, A.J. Burnett and his wife, Karen; and great-grandsons, A.J. Burnett, Jr. and Ashton Burnett; and a sister, Minnie Wilson.
The family would like to thank Robinson Nursing Home and the 6th Floor staff at VA Hospital for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the US Department of Veterans affairs: Arkansas Hospice, 4300 West 7th St., Little Rock, AR 72205.
Viewing and visitation will be Monday, June 28 from 6 to 7:30 PM at the North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170. Online obituary and guest register at www.nlrfh.com.
