Roland Dean Shields, 83, of Conway passed away Thursday in Little Rock.
Roland will be a loving shining light as he looks from above at the ones he loves and prepares to light the path for them. They include his wife, Doris J. Shields; six children sons, Robert and wife, listed, Carl and wife, Stephanie; daughters, Betty Faye VanBuskirk and husband Shane, Carol Qualls and husband Donald of Evening Shade, Jo Shields and husband, listed; 10 grandchildren, Letisha Shields, Blake and Amber VanBuskirk, Brandy Phillips, Brenda Harmon, Angie McLoon, Kayice Thomas, Maria Shields, Deana Shields and DJ Harris; nine great-grandchildren, Josh Harmon, Jessie and Chase Barr, Zack and Ty Thomas, Onna and Jonnie Shields, Cutter and Cole Harris; his brother, Robert W. Shields and sister, Roberta Akers.
Roland follows our Lord's Heavenly light led by his father, William Joseph Shields; and mother, Alta Laura (Jones) Shields; a sister, Rosalie Bain; and son, Ralph (Skipper) Pedano.

Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.
