Roger A. Tankersley, born on July 27, 1950, departed from this world on December 8, 2024. Roger graduated from Bismarck High School, where he laid the foundation for a life filled with hard work at Reynolds Aluminum where made lifelong friendships with all of his Reynolds family.
Roger was an outgoing individual with a zest for life. He had a deep passion for the great outdoors, enjoying hunting rabbits and running beagle dogs. His love for music and his penchant for watching and reading westerns brought him countless hours of joy. In addition to these interests, he found great pleasure in raising and riding horses in his earlier years.
He leaves behind a loving family and a myriad of friends who cherished his presence. Roger is survived by his brothers-in-law, Donnie Kea, George Hill, and Royace Braziel; and his nephew, Jay Sheets. He is further survived by nieces, Donna and Mark Jarrell, Janice and Mike Farr, Jeanette and Tom Shephard, Dena Stachmus, and Carla Elmore. Roger also held a special place in his heart for his nephews, including Bradley and Cynthia Braziel, and Waco Hill; other survivors include, Kiley and Molly Hill, Mecca Hill, and Jason and Karen Braziel. He was also blessed with many great nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his family, Roger maintained cherished friendships with Katie Scott, Jerry Allen, and Joe Egleston, who graced his life with laughter and companionship.
Roger was preceded in death by his beloved parents Bill and Hazel Tankersley, sisters, Virginia Troy Sheets, Wanda Kea, Joyce Hill, and Brenda Braziel; infant brother, Winford, and niece, Sandra Barr. Their memories will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew them.
A funeral service to celebrate Roger's life will be held on December 20, 2024, at Smith Family Funeral Home in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Friends and family are invited to gather for a Visitation at 4:00 PM, with the service beginning at 5:00 PM.
Roger A. Tankersley will be deeply missed, but his spirit and the memories of the joy he brought to so many will forever remain.
