Roger Rooney

Roger R. Rooney, 82, passed away peacefully at home on June 21, 2016 surrounded by his family after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease. He was born to John Edward and Claire Marceau Rooney in Monson, Massachusetts on August 3, 1933. He was a retired Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force, a retired care-taker at the National Cemetery in Little Rock, AR, a youth minister in Texas and a Boy Scout Leader. Roger was an avid gardener, a family man, and a child of God.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Emilea, his parents, and his sister Lucille Rooney-Bamber.
He is survived by his sister Delores Habel of Springfield, Massachusetts and his sons DeWayne Rooney and Chuck Rooney, wife Laura Lee, and his grandchildren, Jeni Rooney and Gabe Rooney all of Ward, and his care-taker, Monica Butler, of Ward.
The family will welcome visitors for a visitation on Thursday, June 23, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe. Services are set for Friday, June 24, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. also at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe.
The family asks that donations be made to Men at Work or Willing Hands Sunday School Class both through Cabot United Methodist Church.
