Robin Dean

ROBIN MADDOX DEAN of North Little Rock passed away peacefully in her home on June 25, 2019 with her family and beloved husband of 43 years, Gary Dean, by her side.

Her parents were Robert Herbert and Thelma Roy Maddox of DeWitt, AR.  Robert was shot down in the Pacific Theater the week she was born on February 8, 1945.  She is preceded in death by her mother Thelma, daddy Charles Rasco Whitmore, and sister Jan Whitmore Alter.  She is survived by her brother Kirk Whitmore (Mary Nell) of St. Charles, AR.

She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville in 1967 and was a proud lifelong member of Kappa Kappa Gamma.

Robin and Gary shared five children between them: Stan Dean (Laura) of Winston-Salem, NC; Romney Rousseau Hall (Tom) of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Matthew Dean (Emily) of Little Rock; Saul Rousseau (Kim) of North Little Rock; and Jennifer Dean Boudreaux (Bob) of Mandeville, LA. Ten grandchildren:  John, Michael, & Martha Dean; McCulloch & Harrison Hall; Sophie Dean; Maddox & Nate Rousseau; Dean & Anna Jayne Boudreaux; nieces; nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.

Robin was known for her positive attitude, beauty, charm, and endless generosity. She lived a life of service to her family and friends, her community, and to her God.  Through her devotion to The Family Home of Little Rock, a calling to Brother Paul’s work at the Friendly Chapel, her tireless energies as a volunteer at the UAMS Cancer Institute, and her commitment to Lakewood United Methodist Church, she used every ounce of her strength, wit, and considerable social grace to establish a lasting legacy.  She inspired many during her ten-year battle with cancer. She was a fantastic cook, treasured mentor, wonderful hostess, true friend, energetic advocate, and above all, an ever encouraging and supportive wife, mother, and grandmother.

Prayers and blessings abound for the care provided by so many over the last decade at the UAMS Cancer Institute. Thank you, and God bless to all.

A service will be held at Lakewood United Methodist Church at 2:00 pm, Monday, July 1st, 2019.
