Robert “Bob” Eugene Insall Sr. passed away at the age of 89 on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, in Sherwood, Arkansas.
Bob was born to Henry E. Insall and Ida Fae Carr Insall on March 27, 1931, in Bay City, Texas, where he spent his formative years and graduated high school. He went on to Texas A&M in College Station from 1948-1950, where he married his high school sweetheart Joyce Maxine Wells and started his family. Here he also began a fulfilling career in insurance sales, which suited him well due to his ability to build and nurture lifelong friendships. Bob later moved to Houston, Texas, where he married Celia Posey Insall and continued to grow his family having one daughter, Amy, in 1977. He later retired to North Little Rock, Arkansas, where he continued his favorite pastimes of gardening, watching sports, and walking Spencer his beloved chihuahua. Bob had a special love for animals, especially for their loyalty and forgiveness. He told animated stories about each of the animals he had loved and cared for over the years. There is no doubt a zoo was awaiting him at the pearly gates!
Bob was a proud Texan, Christian, father, grandfather, athlete, dancer, salesman, Bay City Black Cat, and Aggie. He was an avid storyteller who excelled in any area that involved connecting with people. He believed strongly that one should fight fair, always finish the season, practice makes perfect, and a positive mental attitude is everything. He admired those who joined a team and worked hard as teammates. He often used examples from his years playing high school football, where he learned to put the perfect spin on his punted football after many hours of practice to secure his place on the team. He also spoke of struggling academically at Texas A&M, until he taught himself the necessary study skills, which coupled with hard work and his faith in the Lord, led him to excel as a student. Bob’s most precious pieces of advice were to pray and always forgive and forget, often referencing Matthew 18:21-22 as Jesus directed us to forgive our brother “seventy times seven” times. We pray that these valuable lessons along with wonderful memories of him may live on in our hearts. May his memory be eternal, Amen.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Celia; son, Robert Eugene Insall Jr. of Kerrville, Texas; and brother, Dr. Henry Ernest Insall of San Antonio,Texas. He is survived by his former spouse, Maxine; and their children, Susan Fae Eudaley and Frank Stuart Insall; and his daughter, Amy Austin Insall Airhart and her husband Matthew David Airhart of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by grandchildren, Michael Cade Insall, Brandt Tyler Insall, Justin Insall, Scott Phillip Insall, Ethan Henry Eudaley, Ava Austin Airhart, and Addison Blake Airhart.
