Roberta Thomas, a beacon of strength and creativity, was born on September 13, 1943,in Little Rock, Arkansas. She gracefully navigated the tapestry of life until she departed this world on February 6, 2025, in her beloved hometown, leaving behind a legacy woven with love and resilience.
Roberta’s journey began at Hermitage High School, where she graduated in 1960. It was this very place that also marked the beginning of her life as a partner in love and commitment, having married her husband Bobby Thomas in the same year. Together, they embarked on a shared adventure that spanned over five decades, nurturing a family that would hold a special place in her heart—a heart that was no ordinary vessel, but one that loved deeply and unapologetically.
An accomplished entrepreneur and a successful businesswoman, Roberta embodied a no-nonsense demeanor coupled with an immense capacity for love. The strongest woman we knew, she often bore the weight of the world upon her shoulders, yet her lightness shone through, leaving those around her blissfully unaware of the burdens she carried. An artist at her core, her creativity flourished from the innocent days of her childhood when painting first set her soul alight, a passion she carried fiercely throughout her life.
Roberta was more than just the creative soul hidden behind a brush; she was a compass for her loved ones—a patient and helpful presence, always ready to listen, guiding them through the storms of life. Her doting nature as a grandmother was unmatched; she reveled in every role the universe bestowed upon her. When asked about her proudest accomplishments, she would unfailingly smile and speak of her family, for they were her truest masterpieces.
Her heart found joy in the company of her sweet Cocker Spaniel, Freckles, who shared 14 beautiful years with her. Roberta found delight in all things whimsical—any glimpse of Mickey Mouse or a glimpse of the magic that is Disney brought forth infectious joy. She had a particular affinity for the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, relishing his films and collecting memorabilia with fervor.
In her final days, Roberta was surrounded by the love of her family, her son Lloyd Thomas (Emily), her daughters Paula Thomas Lee' Kaczmarowski (Scott) and Angela Sandage ( Terry Don), and her grandchildren: Andrew Sandage (Karen), Alicia Sandage, Lucas Lee, Ryder Lee, Jonah Lee, Warren Hawkins (Cyntanna), and Justin Hawkins (Meghan), along with her cherished great grandchildren, Emmett Hawkins,Teddy Hawkins, and the miracle of Arthur Hawkins who will be born in the coming weeks.
Forever in her wake are the memories of those who have passed: her beloved husband, Bobby Thomas, her father Gus Spickes, and her mother Mildred Spickes—who surely welcomed her with open arms upon her arrival in the echoes of eternity.
Roberta Thomas leaves behind not just a legacy, but a wellspring of love, strength, and creativity, forever etched in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.
