Robert Hoyle Thompson passed away October 1, 2009. He was born March 13, 1927 in Clark County, Arkansas, to George and Emma Cox Thompson.
He was Preceeded in death by one daughter, Suzan Smith, his parents and three brothers, Rubert, Hubert and Clarence Thompson, four sisters, Una Holder, Bea Buck, Martha Lou Clingan and Dorothy Williams.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Alberta Sealy Thompson, a son Michael Robert Thompson and his wife Kathy, two grand daughters Megan and Abby Thompson all of Austin, TX; and son-in-law Loren Smith of Shreveport, LA; one sister, Sue Robertson of Arkadelphia; sister-in law Helen Thompson of Texarkana, AR; and a brother-in-law Wilton Williams of Forth Worth, TX.
He was an active member and former deacon of Park Hill Baptist Church. He served in the U. S. Army in WWII. After serving 27 years in the U. S. Border Patrol, he retired January 11, 1981 at Del Rio, TX. where he was Assistant Chief Patrol Agent of the Del Rio Sector of the Border Patrol. The Del Rio Sector encompassed 200 miles of the Mexican border and seventy-five counties of southwest Texas.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be 10:00 AM Monday, October 5, 2009 at Park Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Erby Burgess and Dr. John Small officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 6 - 8 pm at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Buddy Crisco, Bob Neal, George Mertens, Jack McCallum, James Roy McDaniel, and J. D. Ferguson. Honorary pallbearers will be the Park Hill Men's Sunday school class.
Memorials may be made to the building fund at Park Hill Baptist Church.
