Robert Lewis Switzer

Robert L. Switzer (Bob) departed this life on September 25, 2024, after a prolonged battle with dementia. Bob was born November 7, 1931, in Harwick, Pennsylvania, the youngest son of Earl and Grace Switzer. Affectionately known to many as “Papa Bobby”, he leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and love for family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Bob served in the Army Airborne Division and was a superintendent at General Motors Hydramatic where he worked for 41 years, retiring in 1992. He loved to garden, golf, fish, and watch sports on TV. His favorite team was the New York Yankees.

Bob was a long-time member of the Valley church of Christ in Burton, Michigan, serving faithfully in the areas of finance and groundskeeping.

He is survived by daughters Denise Longman of Charleston, SC and Kristie Liedel of Plymouth, MI; son Jeffrey (Bonnie) Switzer of Sherwood AR; granddaughters Melanie (Travis) Ukestad, Samantha (Samuel) Bushey, Meredith Longman, Emily Liedel and Lizzy Liedel; great grandchildren Oliver Bushey and Nora Ukestad. He was preceded in death by sisters Lugardie Johnson and Dorothy Scott; brother Gene Switzer; son Jerry Switzer; son-in-law Eric Liedel; great-grandson Simon Ukestad.

The family will receive visitors at Smith Family Funeral Home in Sherwood, AR on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 9:30 a.m., with a service following at 10:30 a.m.

Interment to immediately follow at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.
