Robert Wesley Sharp, born August 4, 1946, in Tennessee, passed away on April 14, 2025, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and proud veteran, he lived a life marked by love, integrity, and a deep connection to family, nature, and faith.
Robert grew up in Oakdale, Tennessee, where he graduated from Oakdale High School and spent his early years exploring the mountains and hollers, hunting squirrels with his grandad and uncles. This love for the outdoors never left him, and he later shared countless adventures in nature with his daughters and grandsons-trips to historical sites, the beach, and the mountains became cherished family traditions.
He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft mechanic and with the USAF Fire Department. Known for his strong work ethic, Robert worked as a skilled farrier for many years, respected for his craftsmanship and care for animals. He was also a successful businessman, a top-ranking national encyclopedia salesman, and later served ten years with the U.S. Postal Service.
On December 7, 1968, he married the love of his life, Diana Marsha Smith. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, road trips, and Sunday afternoons on the lake. He had a special passion for driving-and a knack for making every ride an adventure.
He was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Eleanor Sexton; mother, Imogene (Sexton) Wojtiw; father, Theodore L. Sharp; brother, Ted Sharp; and in-laws, Marshall Smith, Dr. Marion Smith-Long, and Dr. and Mrs. William E. Smith.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Diana; daughters, Ellen Anne (Mr. and Mrs. Richards) and Racheal Marie Sharp; grandsons, Elias William Frye and fiancée Abbi Rogers, Luke Wesley Maurer, and Mr. and Mrs. Maurer (Michael Jeffery); brother-in-law, William Edward Smith II; nephews, Samuel Sharp and William Smith III; nieces, Mindy Jo Smith and Kathryn Smith; and many more. He is also survived by dear cousins and extended family from Harriman, Tennessee-Sharon Sexton, Amy Beth Sexton, Ralph, Phillip, Pam, and Paula-as well as many other relatives and friends who loved him.
His home was always full of warmth and animals he adored, from his horses to his beloved dogs-Andrew, Bud, FRD, and Little Bit, whom he rescued-to his entertaining cats, Sammy and Sassy.
A man of deep faith, loyalty, and unwavering love for his family, Robert will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, proud veteran, and a man who lived with honor and heart-who gave so much and loved quietly but deeply.
In keeping with his wishes, a private memorial will be held in his favorite place with immediate family.
