Robert Leo Rossi (Bob), 69, of Little Rock, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Hospice Home Care. Born August 6, 1943 in Little Rock, he was preceded in death by his father, Robert Rossi (Bob). He is survived by his mother, Rose Rossi Highfill and siblings, Andrea Meurer (Carl), Andy Rossi (Janet), and Cornelia Rossi, all of Little Rock, and Mary Hiatt (John) of Memphis, Tennessee. Bobby is also mourned by his loving nieces and nephews, Christina Clark, Amy Lasley, Adam Meurer, Emily Eley, Raphael Meurer, Claire McClellan and Rose Beth Meurer, all of Little Rock; Maria Rossi and Nissa Hiatt of Washington, D.C.; Meghan Rossi of West Palm Beach, Florida; and Alice Hiatt of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. His beloved dog, Nick, will sorely miss him, too.
Bobby was a 1961 graduate of Catholic High School. He received a B.S. in Engineering from SMU and an M.B.A. from Georgia Tech. He completed his career in finance with Entergy, retiring in 1999. Bob enjoyed his family and many friends and was an avid fan of local restaurants, golf and yoga. He spent many years as a volunteer blood delivery driver and donor to the American Red Cross.
He was an active member of a Unitarian Universalist Covenant group and a Whole Foods discussion group. He leaves behind many devoted friends, including Beverly Clark, Gil Caver and Bish Williams.
A celebration of Bob's life was held on Thursday, August 9 at Maddie's Place Restaurant. In lieu of food and flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Red Cross, 401 South Monroe St., Little Rock, AR 72205 or to CARE (Central Arkansas Rescue Effort for Animals), P.O. Box 7604, Little Rock, AR 72217. The family wishes to thank the staffs at the UAMS ICU and Hospice Home Care for their compassionate care.
