Robert Frank Palmer, Jr., 73, of Maumelle, Arkansas passed away February 2, 2020. Robert was born May 22, 1946 in Wheeling, West Virginia to the late Robert Frank, Sr., and Alice Edna (McGill) Palmer.
Robert was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal two times. He worked as a Journeyman Electrician with IBEW Local 141 in Wheeling, West Virginia. He loved sports and played football, baseball, and basketball. Robert was so good that he was being scouted while in high school. Instead of going to the football draft, Robert joined the military. He was a natural born motivator and helped coach baseball to children of all ages. Robert was never too tired to spend time with his sons. He would go coach Rob in baseball and then come home to throw the football with Tim who went out for quarterback. These times are cherished memories his sons will never forget. He was his son's coach from the age of 6 until his college days. He was there for every game his son played, including the 1998 World Series. Robert instilled lessons he learned in the military to his family and those he coached including "Never Give Up!", and "Adapt and Overcome". He was a tough man, never complaining of health issues despite being exposed to many harmful chemicals during his military career. Robert was always willing to help others, not asking for anything in return.
Left to cherish his memory are: his loving wife, Mary Eileen Palmer of Maumelle, Arkansas; four sons: Robert Thomas Palmer and wife Felicia of Conway, Arkansas, Timothy Ryan Palmer and girlfriend Annette Fuentes of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Jeffrey Jorge Palmer and wife Michelle of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Robert Kristopher Palmer and wife Melissa of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren: Robert Anthony Palmer and Chrissy Palmer; and a host of family members and friends who love Robert and will miss him always.
