Retired Captain Steve “Moo” Moody, 60, of North Little Rock and Sherwood, Arkansas passed away in the early morning hours May 23, 2023 in Vilonia. Two of the most special people in his life, his daughter and his best friend, were by his side.
Steve was born July 31, 1962, in Little Rock, Arkansas to Bobby and Alfreda Moody. He is survived by his parents; his daughter, Amanda Moody; his son-in-law, Alec Mitchell; brother, Chuck Moody (Kim), best friend, Debbie Moody; his two long-time friends Cheryl Cauthen and Jerry Sanders; and a host of other family and friends.
Steve lived a life following his passions. He was a dedicated Sherwood firefighter for many years (1999-2007) and could often be found in a workshop tinkering on project ideas to make the firefighting profession easier and safer. He also worked as a respiratory therapist. He was an avid grill master who enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. And through the years he experienced many wonderful vacations to Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruises and Florida beaches with Debbie and Amanda.
He had a sly smile, a quick wit, a keen mind for design & building things and a devotion to those he loved, especially as he fought a fierce battle against cancer.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to the Arkansas Fallen Firefighters Memorial Home (arfallenfirefighters.org)
A celebration of his life will be held 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM Friday, May 26, 2023 at Smith Sherwood Funeral Home (7700 Hwy 107). Never one to be strong on formalities, Steve could usually be seen wearing colorful t-shirts, often from one of his many family vacations, jeans, and always sneakers, so please come to celebrate his life in attire that is most comfortable to you.
